Police nabs murder suspect in Delta State
The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a 30-year-old suspect, Daniel Onyejekwe, in connection with the murder of Christian Goodluck, which occurred on New Year’s Day in Sapele. According to a statement released by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the incident took place when Onyejekwe intervened in a quarrel between Goodluck and his mother.

Reports indicate that the situation escalated into a physical altercation between Onyejekwe and Goodluck, during which both men allegedly used a broken bottle as a weapon. Onyejekwe purportedly stabbed Goodluck with the bottle, inflicting fatal injuries that led to his death shortly thereafter.
The police statement cautioned individuals to control their temper, especially in the new year, highlighting the tragic consequences of unchecked anger. The statement read, “In this year 2025, please control your temper. The suspect, Daniel Onyejekwe, aged 30, in Sapele, murdered one Christian Goodluck on 1/1/2025. The suspect claimed that he met the deceased quarreling with and assaulting his mother. They fought using a broken bottle. He stabbed the deceased with the broken bottle, which later led to his death. What a way to start the new year.”

The arrest of the suspect is a significant development in the investigation, and the police are likely to continue their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the murder.
